Mud Run Event: The Stampede on May 19, 2012
The Stampede

The Stampede 5k Mud Run - Kentuckiana Inaugural “Splash-tacular” Event Launch

Fitness has never been challenged like this before and may never look the same after The Stampede is unleashed in Kentuckiana. Inspired by an endurance mud racing craze sweeping the country, local organizers of The Stampede 5k Mud Run challenge will bring the first “splash-tacular” fitness event to Louisville May 19-20, 2012 with racing to start at 8am Saturday and again on Sunday.

By design, The Stampede 5k challenge will push individuals and teams to conquer more than a 20 outrageous obstacles including 10 foot walls, mountains of hay, arctic ice mud baths, roaring beds of fire and more. Waiting at the finish line is a well earned medal, clean t-shirt, showers, and a festival with live local music and food to celebrate runner’s victory. The Stampede race series is removing barriers to fitness and fun and delivering an “After Party” with more fun, food, beer and live music with celebrity appearances for racers and spectators.

According to event organizer Mark Lynch, “We know thousands of runners in Louisville alone are ready for this type of adventure close to home and are looking for more after running the Triple Crown and Mini-Marathon. The Stampede is not so much a race as it is a personal challenge packed with fun.”

The site for the first Kentuckiana inaugural event is IN Louisville, Kentucky. Located off Old Heady Road, the site was selected for easy Interstate access from I-64, I-65 and 2-65 (Gene Snyder) and within 15 minutes of downtown Louisville. Planners have included more fun with on-site camping, food vendors and concerts with celebrity guest appearances for enthusiasts and spectators. The Stampede first waves begin, Saturday May 19 at 8:00 a.m.

Competitors will navigate through a course filled with obstacles guaranteed to challenge even the most diligent racers. Whether you are a hardcore runner, an everyday couch potato, or just looking to get out of the office, The Stampede’s course offers outrageous challenges guaranteed to burn calories. Competitors of all skill levels will find The Stampede is designed and ready to meet their own needs and challenges. Run with friends for fun, run with co-workers for bonding or go all out to see who will capture the title of the inaugural Stampede race.

Following Saturday’s adult 5k Stampede, it is family time on Sunday, May 20. The Pony Stampede race offers youth ages 8 to 13 a chance to run with a parent or guardian over the 5k course with age appropriate obstacles and muddy fun. Special registration prices are available for Students, firefighters, law enforcement and military personnel.

Over, under, in and out, up or down the adventure is guaranteed to be Kentuckiana’s hottest new “splash-tacular” twist on fitness.
